Useful website of the week #5: Pandora.com

If you haven’t heard of Pandora.com before or know what it is, you are definitely missing out on one of the coolest websites on the web.  Imagine listening to all kinds of music streamed right to your computer and out the speakers, all day if needed, for free.  Create your own “radio stations” that play the music you like or the artist you like.  If you want to own the track you happen to be listing to, there is a link to buy it directly from Amazon or ITunes.  Between every few songs or so, you will here a 10 or 20 second advertisement and the page itself shows off some ads but I think that is a small price to pay for free music.  If you don’t like the ads but like the service, you can pay $36 per year for the “ad-free” version.

Using the Pandora is more than just a website of course.  There are Pandora enabled devices that will stream the music directly to your audio system or even little devices that actually look like radios.  Then there is the mobile apps for almost any web-enabled phone; IPhone, Blackberry, Android, and Windows Mobile.  Listen to your stations wherever and whenever.

There are other “internet radio” competitors but I haven’t found one yet that can hold a candle to Pandora.  I promise you will never get bored with Pandora especially if you love music like I do.
