Logically, this leads me to believe that most people just don’t know how to do or run backups and that is why it never gets done. Why are people still NOT backing up their digital data?

To me, most people seem to think running a backup on their machine is an option instead of a necessity. Over the past two weeks, I’ve personally helped two people recover from complete system failures or hard drive crashes and another lost her entire Itunes music library. In all three cases, none of them had a backed up and their digital data.

Back in the dark ages of Windows XP, defraging your hard drive seemed more important than it is today. Even though I recommend defraging at least every month as part of a montly maintenance program, it still seems to be more of a suggestion than it is a must especially with more modern OS like Vista and Windows 7.
