Windows 7 hidden treasures: Problem Steps Recorder
by The Cibertek on 22. Feb, 2010 in Tools, Windows
The “Problem Steps Recorder” or PSR is one of those little free programs that should of been in every version of Windows since 3.1. Unfortunately, it only comes with Windows 7. The PSR in short could save you some pain when troubleshooting problems and is worth spending time to learn how to use it.

by The Cibertek on 14. Dec, 2009 in News, Software, Windows
If you want to live on the edge, you can download the Office 2010 Public Beta. Like any beta software, download and install at your own risk. From what I can tell so far, its a stable beta although not everything works.

by The Cibertek on 14. Dec, 2009 in Tools, Videos, Windows
Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool is one of those seldom used tools that very few people have ever heard about. In fact, I couldn’t remember when the last time I even used it but I do remember that it saved the day back then.

by The Cibertek on 07. Sep, 2009 in Maintenance, Software, Windows
In previous post, I wrote about ways to protect your data using regular backups and online backups. However these types of “backup” can’t backup your software, data, and operating system all in one shot.
Quick Windows 7 upgrade tips
by The Cibertek on 27. Aug, 2009 in Software, Windows
I’ve installed W7 on over 50 times and I haven’t run into any major issues so far myself. However, I keep hearing from and seen others with problems doing the upgrade option to W7. Mostly hardware compatibility issues and software problems, especially with some XP programs. Almost all of these problems can be avoided however, with some simple preplanning. Looks like Microsoft will come thru finally with a Windows 7 Family Pack. Starting on October 22nd the price for the Windows 7 Family Pack will be $149.99 for 3 Windows 7 Home Premium licenses. That’s huge for those of us who have more than one machine and a great value.
